Happy New Year for 2013!

A peaceful, mild evening, watching the city lights and fireworks across the Bay, from Brighton Beach. Cool sea breeze, the sound of waves gently lapping the shore.... Sitting with my husband in the late twilight, enjoying the serenity.

It's been a great year in 2012, thanks to my wonderful husband, and my amazing daughter, gorgeous son, and lively step-sons. Wishing you all a terrific New Year! Love & laughter, health & happiness to all.

Merry Christmas - Earrings!

A great early Christmas day, yesterday, with all 4 of our respective children, chez "our place". Opening gifts, drinking champagne & cool drinks, munching on yummy "White Christmas" slice, cherry jam drops, ham off the bone, turkey, barbecued marinated chicken wings, crusty herb bread, home-made coleslaw & green salad, followed by Strawberry Pavlova with whipped cream...phew!

We even managed a swim at nearby Hampton beach. The water was refreshingly icy, and very welcome on a 39 degree (celsius) day.... A typical Australian Christmas!

Now, driving North with number one son to visit my two sisters, brother-in-law & nephew for ANOTHER Christmas Day celebration, tomorrow! Number one daughter is serving the community as one of those wonderful, caring nurses. (She said: the patients loved her trendy Christmas tree earrings - laser-cut by her clever Mum!)

Have a safe, relaxing Christmas, everyone!

"Feathers" Acrylic Templates

This weekend, I  laser-cut this 6-piece template set for an interstate order.  It's from Anna Maria Horner's free PDF pattern Feather Bed Quilt.  The finished block measures 18 inches on each side.

Doesn't this look great?  Why not order a template set for a quilting friend (or yourself) for Christmas?   To purchase, see my  Etsy Store - Sunset Seams    Choose your own colour.

(Edited May 2015: The Etsy Store is now the main purchasing platform, as from April 2013.  The website on-line store has been de-activated).

I'm tempted to try this block for myself!  Maybe, a 'Festive Season' cushion cover, with this gorgeous Christmas jelly-roll pack?

Merry Christmas, everyone!
Have a safe, relaxing time with family and friends.

Cheers, Lisa

Acrylic Templates from Vintage Magazines

Here is a recent custom order from a lady who bought a vintage patchwork magazine at a second-hand fair. She loved the Wandering Diamond pattern so much, she asked me to make templates to speed up the task of cutting so many odd-shaped pieces...accurately.

Only $15 for 2 pieces, so it's worth digging out some of those old quilting magazines you might have hidden away, to see what you can find!
